Guys, a brissie-based mate wrote this piece as he's a flood recovery specialist. Please pass it on if anyone you know has a house that went even a little way under in the flood - http://floodcleanup.wordpress.com/20...after-a-flood/

That was the El Nino weather pattern. Every few years the weather patterns change between drought (El Nino) and rainfall (La Nina), off the back of sea temps.

I though mr 'diver made mention 4 or 5 weeks ago about a lack of rainfall in his area. But you know them kiwis, too busy having sexual intercourse with sheep to know about the weather ;)

We are moving to a riverside town soon and on our travels to and fro looking for houses it has been pretty sad seeing the devistation around Charlton etc.
Paddocks/fields that look like lakes still. Pretty strange sight.
And the roads are FARKED.
E30s are staying south until the roads improve and the Murray has peaked at Swan Hill and Mildura.

We drove through Wangarei on the way to Ohawini the morning after (sat) and there was water everywhere. SH16 flooded and down to one lane and slips everywhere on the road to Ohawini.
We could see where the water had been the night before, but by the time we came through it had dropped a fair way.
