    Just bought my first e30

    Hi all,
I just bought my first e30. A '91 318i. It needs some love, but it is still running strong and got me home through rush hour traffic in Philly last night without issue. I'll be scouring the Technical forums, but I'm open to any and all suggestions, tips, etc. for a new e30 owner and new mechanic. Photos and Videos to follow. Thanks all in advance and I look forward to jumping in head first.

It looks like you’re overheating. Your temp gauge should be one needle length to the left of the center when it’s fully up to temperature. If you were letting the car idle for a long time it could be your fan clutch that’s gone bad, or perhaps the gauge is faulty. A common issue with a faulty gauge is that the grounding nut on the back of the gauge gets loose. Those are just a couple possibilities, could be something more serious.
