Ummmm a little help here!?! Timing belt question!

So, I’m an idiot. I’m buttoning everything up with my timing belt/water pump/crank shaft seal job. Get done with the crankshaft seal and start torquing. Idiotically, I start torquing the E12 bolt and the pulley moves from TDC about two teethe. First thought is to move the crank forward just a bit to compensate. Here are the pics.

Am I a dumbass for doing that or will everything be ok if I install the timing belt and see if everything is lined up when I rotate the crank when the belt is installed??

Or, could I just rotate both clockwise till they’re back at TDC? Will I bend the valves at all or damage anything?

Does it matter if I crank it back or do a full rotation forward?

Just go back with everything to the marks, and start your belt installation. Do worry about turning it backwards a little. If you make a full turn with the crank you're going to hit the valves.

Not sure if I’m going to be able to move the shaft back without that E12 bolt not torqued

Stick a couple bolts in the marked drum and turn it back with a bar or screw driver.

There's a key on the shaft so they turn together. In the future never torque anything without a belt and for the crank seal get the pulley holder. Your dealing with 300lbs of torque

Buttoning everything up and this little guy is left in my radiator hardware bag. Any idea where this is from?

I may have just thrown it in there without even thinking and it may not even belong in the radiator bag...definitely belongs inside the bay somewhere.

Yeah, it's driving me crazy thinking about where it came from. We'll see what happens when I flush/bleed coolant tonight and start her up.
