5 speed swap from E21

So I'm thinking about getting a 5-speed from an E21 to swap out the auto in E30.
I'm not sure about driveshafts though, does anyone have experience in this?
whole e30 DS, whole E21 DS or mix?

besides the mechanical speedometer cable, the getrag 240 trans in the 83 e21, and the 84-85 E30 are identical. standard manual 84-85 318i driveshaft would be used.

donor car is a 1980 320is I was hoping to use transmission and either whole or part of driveshaft..
But from what you're saying I'll need to source an 84-85 318i driveshaft.

No, the 80 5- speed was never used in the E30.
It's a G245, and it's longer.

Very late (late 82- 83) E21's got the shorter G240.

To use the earlier G245, you'd need to shorten your driveshaft and shift platform.
Not too hard, and we do it for 2002's all the time, but it's harder than using the very
late E21 G240.
