I purchased these brackets for my sedan to install a set of E46 sport seats. I only installed the drivers side brackets for about a month. I only removed them due to the fact I am 6'8" tall, and I need all of the headroom I can get. Unfortunately, as with any bracket of this design, it is going to add 3/16" of overall height.
