..there will always be a difference of opinion on wheels. I like Kopis and Motorsport Replicas all of which come in 17".

Its a matter of what you like that will determine what size you go with...I personally dont' care so far as they are not 18s...even then some 18s like the Rojas on some guys eS looked real nice....its all in how u size your tires, your car's height, your compromise on perf. over looks etc.

Most people also think the universal multi-holed lug setup is "not cool"

those rims look ok... but i agree w/ e9nine.... it's personal preference & the multi fitment looks super goofy

plus you'll definitly need some hefty spacers w/o that offset, that'll run you another 300 bucks by the time you buy the spacers & longer lugs

i like 17's. they are the perfect size for style on our cars.

for track days i would go with 15's. or maybe 14's. tomorrow i hopefully get some borbet type a's and then i can get rid of my bottlecaps! :woowoo:

Cars don't have offsets. Wheels do.

For a 7" wide wheel, I personally like an offset between 22-27mm.

As said before, it really depends on the wheel. The Alpina Kopi's look absolutely pimp in 17s, and so do wheels with a black center and polished lip, like those you posted and the ones that Dave Length had on his cabrio. You also have to take into consideration the roads that you drive on and stuff. With a 17" rim, you have to run a pretty low-profile tire, and the risk of denting a rim is pretty high. Bigger wheels are, for the most part, heavier too, so if you're looking for performance, bigger is not necessarily better. That said, if I had my choice of wheels for my car, I would probably get some 17's with a black center and polished lip... or BBS LM's  .

IMO, 17's are too small for the e30 if it is lowered ALOT! I am running 18's on my 87 325i, and i regret not buying 19's.......it all depends on what "look" you are looking for. I don't track my car therefore to me wheel size doesn't matter. The 17's above will look more like 16's, because the blades don't make it to the edge of the wheel.

+43mm offset is also too high, but +40mm fits PERFECTLY on my car without spacers!

Kopis were specially made for E30s, and I believe they have 20-25mm offset.

I was running 17x7s with Et40 without spacers but they just look funny, and are tucked in.

with a 43 offset you'll need at least 15mm spacers, maybe even 20mm. Either way, adding up all the cost just to make those wheels fit is not worth the price (unless of course you're getting some GREAT deal on the wheels). You're better off finding 17s (if you're really insistent on that specific size) that are designed for E30s. Besides cosmetics, there's no benefit to heavy 17s that are only 7" in wide. You can get lighter, cheaper, and just as good-looking 16s that are even wider, giving you better traction with more grip. Just my 2 cents.
