    Tire advice for 17x8's

    Hey guys!

Hoping to be back on track soon, new car is fresh out of paint! I did the arc-8 group buy and i'm looking for some tire/fitment advice as i've only run 15x8's in the past.

    The arc-8 is 17x8 et25.

I'd like to get tire in the 200 treadwear range as I'll be doing some autocross events to shakedown the new car and then some HPDE's so I don't want to run slicks just yet.

Most people run 235/40, my fenders are rolled, -3.5 camber front -2.5 rear. The 245's are considerably cheaper.

    Should I stick with 235/40's ?
    DirezzaIII at 207 per tire
Toyo R1R at 191 per tire
    Toyo R888R at 210

Can I fit 245/40 (turn in worse?)
    RE71R at 169 per tire
Hankook RS4 at 169 per tire
    r1r at 186 per tire

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'd probably do the 235's. 245/40 is pretty wide for an 8", and that size also pretty tall for an E30.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Yep, 245's will hit on the corners of the inner fenderwells and at the pinch weld at the top of the inner fenderwells under compression. I was running Conti ST slicks, which are roughly equivalent to most 245/40's, maybe a hair shorter. My pinch weld is ground flush and tacked, but it was still rubbing pretty badly at Road Atlanta in T1. No issues with 235/40, still pretty tight though

      I had to do this:

Great to know, I didn’t want to run into all sorts of rubbing issues. Any advice on which 235 has the most consistent feel and grip? I can deal with lower life. I’d rather have a consistent feel so I can get a better feel for all the new adjustments on this car.

I run 245/40R17 RE-71Rs on 17x9s with a taller ride height front and rear compared to Jb325is, and I don't rub the pinch weld in the front. I do scrape the plastics and had to cut the upper plastic wheel well liner and roll the front and rear fenders.

I think a 235 NT-01 is going to be the most consistent tire especially on the track. They won't fall off as quickly as the RE-71Rs and you won't have to stress about rubbing.
