M30 guys whats your coolant gauge at?

So i have my cooling system routed like the one in this picture with an e36 mishimoto rad and 75 degree thermostat. At idle in my drive way it sits directly at half way. How ever when cruising its sits at 1/4 there isn’t any air in the system or leaks. Anyone out there have similar setup and temp?

Im thinking of wiring in a legit coolant gauge i have to see the actual water temps. Thoughts?

Got a low temp thermostat since the car will be mostly driven in the summer to help prevent it from getting hot.

Your ecu will see the low temp and fuck around with the mixture to try to get the engine to warm up. You should run a factory temperature thermostat.

that would explain the extreme rich running condition

This is not How it works.

A thermostat in working order regulates temperature to its specified temp.

Your incorrect thermostat is just making your engine run too cool. Probably making it slower and less fuel efficient:)

I run a 71 degree thermostat. BMW ran these from factory in their hot climate pack - places like Australia and Saudi Arabia, so maybe the extra headroom does something?!

Car runs around 1/3rd (just over 1/4) on the cruise, and gets up to half stopped in traffic due to my 80 degree fan switch. One day I might try a Porsche 75 degree switch if my 80 degree one packs up, but it all works fine.

I have had zero overheating issues vs. the many problems we seem to hear about on here ;-)

My 82deg one works fine up here in Queensland. No overheating either. Sits at 82deg on my COD temp gauge no matter what temp it is outside.

My car runs just about like Luke's car. No issues.
