E30 sunroof problem! please help!

I have a 1991 318i
my problem is that my sunroof wont open.. at all.
It has a manual crank sunroof and as i try to it turn clockwise, it clicks. Which leads me to believe a gear is stripped or something.

My problem is that it wont open.. ALL the tutorials online of sunroof removals assumes the sunroof still opens.. mine does not.

how would i go about repairing sunroof?? Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

pull the handle down and have a look around i believe there are 3 screws

Likely as not, the gears that drive the cables are stripped.

Once you pull the handle off, you will see the gears. If they are OK (highly unlikely) your cables may be stretched...since they are the gear, too.

Once you get the handle off you should be able to move the sunroof to get it out and be able to replace the cables and handle, they you get to look for the clocking instructions...it ain't that bad a job tho
