It’s the lightweight 1.8i M40 engine with 5 speed tranny and 4.27 LSD rear end.
Special ordered ‘sonderlackierung’ (special ordered paint) Calypsored, incl. bumpers and mirrors.
What’s extra rare about this car is the extensive list of extra’s that were ordered when new:
-Black leather with heated seats
-ATA (Aussen Temperatur Anzeige or in English Outside Temperture Display)
-Limited Slip Diff!
-Discbrakes all around, with ABS
-Drivers airbag (I know, not what you want…but hey it’s there in case you need it)
-Power sunroof
-Power doors and windows in the front
-Power steering
And more……but the most important is that it came with A/C!

The good:
-Healthy engine, runs strong, no rattles, no smoke
-Current belt only has done 20.000 miles
-Smooth shifter, clutch has a lot of life left
-Very easy to handle and drive (very light car)
-Green tinted windows
-New rear muffler
-Fully working cluster
-Great colorcombo in Calypsored with dechromed Shadowline
-Tailgate is rocksolid in the bottom (a very famous rustspot on these wagons)
-Very good on fuel!
-Smiley headlights
-Elips fogs
-Original bottlecap wheels with good tires
-Luggage cover/roller is still with the car!
The works:
-Headliner is bad, needs replacing
-ATA goes nuts most of the times
-A/C needs a recharge and most likely a drier and new front seal on the compressor
-Headlight aiming knob is missing (but this system is known to go bad all the time…)
-Central locks don’t work well (common E30 problem)
-Headlight washing system was removed by previous owner……along with the map reading lights
