Any way to adapt a Getrag 240 to the K24?
There might be some decent weight savings there, and the G240 can handle the power.

I've thought about doing this, I believe it will work. Because 240's bolt up to m50's and they have a adapters for m50 ZF transmissions. You would have to figure out clutch and flywheel.

The G240 weighs 65lbs, the ZF 5 speed weighs 82lbs. Its 17lbs saved, but that weight is in the best possible place to be.

Agreed - that said, if you wanted to run a G240 it wouldn't be hard, it'd just be a bit of research to nut out which clutch / pressure plate and throw out bearing to use. BMWs are like lego with clutches, so you'd just need to look at different models to find the right combination of pressure plate and throwout bearing that gave you the stack height you needed.

Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that the adaptor for the BMW transmissions caused slave cylinder issues, but that would likely be easily sorted with an e21 throw out bearing (5mm deeper than most other BMWs, but same design) and if that weren't enough, a slight lengthening of the slave cylinder rod if the e21 bearing still didn't quite work.

Same as we've been doing for years adapting M20 flywheels to M42s, running M50s with e30 transmissions etc.

He's also a Mod here and has a build thread. And posted two posts above you.

So you want to put an engine sideways in a e30 to ruin the weight balance.....

                              And make it understeer more?

The e30 is god’s chariot because it’s RWD.

Awd is understeer; an e30 325xi handles like shit compared to a rwd e30 325i

I would say this is extremely harsh. It handles different for sure, but as someone who bounces back and forth from is 325ix to his 325i they are both extremely fun and enjoyable to drive.
