I think the insight is that you're reaching a bit far with your trade offer. Instead of getting all angry pants maybe state how much you'd be willing to go on top of your wagon for the IX ($3-4k would be a starting point). Also, it'd would be good to know how hacked up the body of the wagon is from the over fender/rocketbunny stuff.
