Hard shift issues

I recently acquired an '89 325i last weekend as the weather is starting to get colder it's having problems starting and shifting gears it feels real sticky and has a lot of drag in between 1st & 2nd where should I start trying to diagnose my issues at?

Auto or manual? Would probably help if you changed the fluid and let the trans warm up a bit.

It's a 5 seed manual my bad. I normally let it sit for about 10 minutes before I leave

Using Redline MTL or ATF as transmission lubricant will help a lot.
