LSD gear question...

I have an open diff, but want to swap to LSD. Can I just buy the gears and have them swapped in? Or do I have to buy and ship the entire damn assembly?

no, you need the LSD unit. You don't have to get the whole diff, just the thing that bolts into the ring gear. You do have to get the unit from a diff with a ratio near what you're going to run, as the taller and shorter ratios have incompatible internal dimensions.

Buy a new aftermarket lsd. Remove open from your unit and drop in trash.

Rebuild diff per BME tis and Install LSD per manufacturers instructions
