    The exhaust manifold to downpipe connection is the only area of my M52 swap I have not quite figured out yet.

    Some people say the stock obd2 downpipe work, some say the front header flange has to be cut and rewelded at a different angle.

    From the looks of mine it looks very difficult to fit a flange and tube without hitting the subframe even with the engine spaced up 1/2"

I wish my E46 M3 sounded as good as this car. It is deep, European exotic and sounds amazing, not too loud but very deep with a nice scream up top to let the P-Car's know that I'm coming.

                      M52b28 block, S52 crank, Molnar 135mm rods, custom JE pistons, 8.5:1 CR, OBD2, S52 cams, full Supertech valvetrain, CES cut ring head gasket, OBD1 valve cover and coils, ATI Super Damper. Everything inside the motor is brand new. Every seal, every bolt. Good N Tight T3 manifold, Garrett GTX3582 turbo, Mishimoto 31”x12”x3” intercooler, M50 manifold, Rally Road fuel rail, Siemens DEKA 60lb injectors, tuned on stock Ms41.1 ECU by 22RPD. Arc Asylum modified and reinforced E36 oil pan with VAC baffle and E30 front subframe.

                      E36 OBD2 harness converted by Markert Motorworks for plug and play with the E30’s C101, E30 M3 firewall wiring harness cover.

                      E46 M3 6-speed transmission (420G), Southbend Stage 3 Endurance clutch, OEM S54 flywheel, DSS custom driveshaft, E28 Euro M353i 210mm rear diff with E46 M3 cover, 3.25 LSD, custom rear crossmember fabricated. E36 M3 front calipers, E46 M3 front rotors, E36 M3 rear calipers and rotors.

                      7. Steering System

                      Z4 non-powered steering rack with E36 outer tie rods, custom made steering column u-joint with DD slip shaft to mate to E30 airbag steering column.

                      8. Cooling System

                      Mishimoto E30/E36 aluminum radiator, E30 late model expansion tank in stock location, Stewart high volume water pump, Fan Man Sidewinder puller fan. Fan motor sits where power steering pump used to be.

                      9. Exhaust System

                      Custom 3” turbo back stainless TIG welded, Vibrant resonator under the driveshaft tunnel and a Vibrant 3” in dual 3” out straight through muffler.

                      10. About a million and a half other things done to the car. It made 596 whp a couple months ago. Heading back to the dyno in a few weeks after making some changes to the fuel, intake, and waste gate systems.

                        Hey guys, since i got my car running i thought i would share my build. Since im from Bavaria Germany parts are plenty. I just have to drive to a wrecker to get everything i need. Everything else can be bought from dealer or ebay.



                        1. Engine
                        M52TÜ28B from E46 328ci which broke in half due to rust. got the whole thing for 1.3k, sold unnecessary parts for 800... Engine got a M54B30 intake and a tuned ECU to make it run at 239BHP. Oilpan is a E34 525 one i believe, got this second hand from a Rallye cross car. had several ground contact before so had to fix it with JB Weld. Oilpump schnorchel got re-welded to fit the new sump.



                        2. Engine Wiring
                        Bought a Adapter from Bruno Antunes on ebay, helped him do the translation of the instructions. This was a 300€ part. No customization needed tho. Plug and play, runs on every E30.


                        3. Drivetrain
                        ZF 5 Speed Gearbox, E36 328i driveshaft combined with E30 automatic center support bearing. Driveshaft needed some cutting (4,7cm shorter). Differential is a E36 compact (No idea about gearing) aswell as the whole rear axle. Wheels are 17" E36 M-Spec.



                        4. Shift Lever and Linkage
                        Lever is a shortshifter from ebay, Linkage is completly OEM


                        5. Motor Mounts
                        E28 5-series Motor bearings (70mm)

                        right side is E36 6 Zylinder engine mount, intake side is a special part from 300mm.de called 24V Adapter. Makes the engine sit perfectly with plenty space in the bay.


                        6. Brake Booster, Master Cylinder, and External Reservoir
                        E34 525 Tandem Brakebooster and Master cylinder, same goes for the Reservour


                        7. Steering System
                        E30 OEM, no Powersteering (just because)



                        8. Cooling System
                        E46 328i Cooler, 2.5l Alloy Reservoir from China, Pusher fan from a wrecker Ford Focus or something (don't remember, just ripped it out of a shell)


                        9. Exhaust System
                        E36 320i headers, Stainless Steel exhaust system for Motorsport applications ofc flow optimized - has yet to be installed


                        10. Brake system

                        Front has 292mm Brembo special brake discs (Special cause they had to fit exactly for this project) aswell as E36 328i Brake Calipers. Got the adapters and discs from Tino's 300mm.de site, he sells whole 5 Stud conversion kits with all parts needed. In the rear i took everything from the E36 compact rear axle and replaced it with new parts.


                        So in total i spent over 7k in the last 9 Months. Bought the E30 as a automatic for the same i got the Coupè for, swapped everything, had to wait for space and parts or tools. Did everything on my own (except for engine extraction and insertion, so in total i had help twice) No Carlift, just jackstands and alot of me beeing on the ground under the car.

                        Would i do this again? - No.
                        Do i recommend this to Novice car guysor hobby mechanics like me? - No.

                        Did i buy alot unnecessary parts that didn't fit? - Too many...

                        Is it worth it? -Hell yes.

                            m50 1987 325e

                            Engine- M50 NV from e34 auto. 130kish miles. Completely resealed and installed new t chain guides. Achilles Motor sports weld in baffle, Bimmerworld oil pump lock nut.

                            cooling- New water pump, t stat and I.E. aluminum rad, spal 16 inch fan, and e36 expansion tank.

                            wiring- self made adapter harness using m20 plug and e34 body plug. so its reversible if for some reason i want to return to m20.

                            exhaust- Tubular manifolds customized to a y pipe and a resonator single exit.

                            Trans- late G260 (swapped my early flange on there) resealed. I.E. DSSR twisted it myself. Condor speed shop swap mounts and trans bracket with garagistic trans poly mounts on the trans. new single mass flywheel and clutch kit for e36.

                            Brakes- 2009 e90 brake booster and slave with remote reservoir. ( cut, installed new fittings and re bubble flared the lines)

                              Finally completed my obd2 conversion because the car was originally obd1 when the m52 swap occurred. Need to get the tune dialed in and time to make some powwwaaaaaa
