How do you do the exposed 'ribs' and BMW logo? Are these machined after the color coat, before the clear coat? Or do you just mask them off?

Also, are you able to do a matte black instead of high gloss?

He would like matte black - hides dirt better than gloss :)

He's looking for another valve cover, to avoid down time. Ideally, from someone with a spare cover who can part with it, and then get my friend's old cover in exchange, within a couple of weeks.

Once he has another cover, he can ship it to you, with no time pressure to finish it.
