Need my timing belt replaced ! Riverside CA . shop recommendations please.

I need to do my timing belt kit and water pump. I called Best motor werks in montclair and they told me $710 with a 2 year 24k mile warranty. sounds expensive considering all the kits I'm finding are right around 130$..

any recommendations ? is $700 normal price ? rip off?

realistically its almost a days work. 7hrs x 80bucks an hour = 560+ 130 for the kit = $690. Not far off your price eh.

It should be a 3 hours billed job if only doing the belt. Most shops that work on BMWs in CA charge around $100 in labor rates. They're probably also charging you for a coolant flush, since hoses have to be removed. If using BMW coolant, that could be another $100 in fluids/labor.

You might be finding $130 for a belt kit, but most mechanics put some small markup on parts, and usually do rush shipping. So I'd figure closer to $200 for the parts. Did they specify OEM or OE parts?

$700 seems about right after tax. Might be a little high, but not unreasonable in my view. It's hard to find low labor rates in SoCal.

$710 isn't a bad quote at all. Pretty reasonable in my opinion.

We can get it done. My partner is working out of Pomona today and tomorrow if you're interested. Just shoot me a PM. Yes, it will definitely be less than $700!
