Hey, sorry it took me 2 years to answer your question about my old m42. The car had 190k, but I knew when I bought it that the engine had issues. Likely it was poorly repaired by a non-bmw shop as per the paperwork that came with the car. I confirmed my fears when I replaced the lower oil pan and picked pieces of metal from the sump...not a good feeling. This is all now behind me and have a great looking rebuilt m42 (despite all the haters suggesting I do a swap). Happy Holidays. Martin.
