Thanks for the information. I'm in NC, I'm not certain what they do for old cars with new er engines. I know they don't do a sniffer test on mine (89), but I think they do a visual check for emissions components, and check the emissions if the engine is newer. This is based on memory from what I think I recall from an issue several years ago. I can't find that information now, will keep looking. I don't want to get a car with an engine swap and have a registration/emissions hassle with the state.
