    1995 540i/6 *no compression cyl 1*

    SOLD

It has come time for me to walk away from this project. I purchased this car with a bad clutch and slave cylinder, both were replaced, and for 2-3 weeks this was one of the fastest cars I've owned. Then for some unknown reason, the engine developed a mysterious misfire that, after some poking around, turned out to be lack of compression.

After a few months of owning this car, it is now time for me to move on. I simply do not have the time to pull a head or an entire engine out and replace right now, but for someone that does, this is a great investment. Car has great power and ENDLESS torque for a 3400 lb boat that is below what its capabilities were from the factory. All electronics work great, heater blows hot, AC blows cold, seat heaters work great and there is no rust of any sort, just MAJOR clear peal as the PO had a respray done (very poorly).
    • PROS:
    • NEW CLUTCH + SLAVE
    • almost EVERYTHING interior is in working condition, a few things listed below, not enough to scare the wrench handy away.
    • leather is in great shape, seats move in all directions
    • tires have about 30% tread left
    • brakes are in great shape
    • only check light is for O2 sensor (recent development since motor was sending down unburnt fuel)

I'm sure im missing a few things, just what I have at the top of my head.
    • CONS:
    • NEEDS HEAD/MOTOR PULLED
    • Rear pass side window switch in the front needs replacing
    • Front drivers side window falls out of alignment when pulled up
    • Few scratches and dents around the body (will need paint to be presentable)

That's about it, car is in decent shape, and given the market, could be sold for a decent price with these problems taken care of.

ALL IN ALL, if I had time to properly dedicate to this car I would, but I simply do not. There is about 2-3k profit in this car with enough work to someone that knows how to be efficient. There are a wide array of options to move forward to form here with this base, and the trans bolts up to just about anything worth putting in a 5 series.

    ASKING $1,800.

Also interested in possible trades. let me know what you have

I have money in this car I would like to make back, and at this price I am doing just that. It is negotiable, but PLEASE do not low-ball me. I know what the car is, i know how many they brought to the states, i know what its worth in good running condition, and the price reflects that. Please do your research before contacting me regarding this car, I am not Google.

PM me or Email shwanmazhar24@gmail with any questions regarding the sale and I will address them for you.

wellllll unless you want to change the input shaft.

regardless, i will post pics of interior when i get home tonight. just gotta clean it out a bit. cats are a year old, should be in good shape and the car has 178k miles rolling miles on the clock.

car has been carfaxed in the past, i should still have it if anyone is interested enough. it is clean

Stock but in good shape. Ride is a bit soft but that's from me where my other car is on coils.

What do you mean? The bell housing on M60 vs m20/m30/m50 is nothing alike....

not sure why anyone would take the m60 out to put a 6er besides the s38 in it. thats all i meant. and the m30 should bolt to the trans, but input shaft will be different.

ALSO should bolt to m54 and such as this is the same trans that the e46 m3 has in it, again with a different input shaft.

Hmmmmmm, ok. Was pretty sure m30 and m60 bell housings are not the same at all... but maybe you know something else.

i could be wrong as you have been around longer then i have, but this is the same trans as the one in the m5, and i assume the s38 and m30 have the same bell housing because e24, just a matter of input shafts

Full of weird and wrong info. A slight amount of somewhat correct info.

the Getrag "420" transmission used in the V8 6 speeds has a different bellhouse for I6 and V8 Models.

There are 2 6 cylinder bellhouse patterns; Big six and Small six. S54 would be the small 6, S38 would be big 6.

The bellhousing does come off and can interchange. So with a S54 bellhouse and s54 clutch+fly kit one could bolt this onto a M54 or M50.

Good luck getting a bellhousing from an small six I6 DOHC engine without the rest of the transmission .....:|

the Euro Only S38b38 (3800cc) uses a 420 also, but with a S38 big six bellhousing- Good luck finding one of these in USA period- I have only seen ONE 6 speed S38 transmission in my life - and it was installed by bmw originally in a E34 M5 Touring that was parked outside an office.
