I didn't really know what chip it was till I pulled it open, the P.O. installed it, and I had been driving this car with 89 octane for the last 5 months without knowing it had this chip in it!
I have issues like when I accelerate in first it kind of goes fast for a second, then not quite as fast, then it boosts again once it hits around 3000 RPM, is this normal? I still probably have small vac leaks in the throttle body, but not huge ones. I also have to apply a tiny bit of throttle while starting it to start it up, and it doesn't idle properly until it's been running about 2 minutes or so. sometimes less if it's been ran within a couple hours.
I figure most of this isn't caused by a chip, so I guess I shouldn't try swapping it until I figure out the other issues causing these symtoms.

thanks, will do, already changed the spark plugs, injectors are working great, need to test the coil and distributor still,, and haven't checked the rotor yet (haven't felt as if I could do it yet.) I have not changed the fuel filter since I got the car, might need to do that promptly.
I also would like to top off my transmission fluid, it hasn't been changed sine 03, should I change the transmission fluid instead of just topping it off? it was using redline before.

If it hasn't been changed in 10+ years I'd just change it. it's not really any more work than topping it off and the drain bolt is actually much easier to remove than the fill one.The first car I ever rode in was an e30

well my intake boot is cracked, and there were much larger vac leaks that had been fixed before changing the plugs, the throttle body still has tiny leaks according to the last mechanic I took it to,, but he said they weren't significant, I highly doubt that.
so I assume for jacking it up level having a solid level foundation + some bubble levelers should be good enough?
also it sounds like a job like that would require 4 jack stands, is this correct?
