    CAE Shifter

Has anybody used the CAE shifter. It looks like the bee knees! Not sure about the 857 dollar price tag. A customer I just built a roll cage for had it. Trans was shot so I couldn't really drive with it.

Chris, They are pretty fun, certainly a step above the akg/bimmerworld options. Worth the difference in price? Not for me to say.

    In terms of shifting accuracy....

    1) oem z3 shifter or equivalent
    2) uuc riser-cup style shifter
    3) akg/bw shifter
    4) cae shifter
    5) frikken' dual-clutch paddle shifter

Having driven the AKG version, I tend to equate the 2- you lose most
of the trans feel with it, and just bash it in like you would with a dog box.

But unlike a dog box, a 260 doesn't really LIKE that, so it responds, predictably,
by chowing up shift forks, synchro rings, and shift collars.

That was my feeling about driving it, anyway, was that it was encouraging me to
hurt the trans way more than I needed to 99% of the time.
That last 1% really made me feel like a pro, tho...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
