    m60 swap wiring short

the short: Fuse 9 kept popping due to the diagnostic plug wire (pin 22) being wired to pin 6 on the c101 connector.

the long: ok so i have a 1990 325i and im swapping in an m62 w/ 4.0 heads on an obd1 harness. I pinned the swap harness that goes from the e30 body harness to the engine harness according to the garagistic pinout (im not doubting gargistic in anyway). Everything worked great and it started fine but fuse 9(02 heater and fuel pump) would pop the second the key was moved to the on position. After connecting each pin individually i found the problem to be with x20 pin 22(diagnostic connector) which on the c101 connector was pin 6. I traced the wire down the engine harness side and found out it was going to the starter. When i unbolted the wire from the starter the fuse did not pop. Am I missing something?

I tested that wire going to the starter and it got power when the key was turned to the on position. Is this correct? Im kinda stumped.

Now keep in mind that I haven't wired my car yet and am not even close to turning the key for the first time. I have however mapped out the OBD1 harness as well as the C101 all through the ETMs and physically tracing wires in the harness.

I have the X20 pin 22 labeled as the O2 sensor relay which is also what the C101 pin 6 is. Here is my C101-X20 plan (but I highly recommend you go through the ETMs and do this yourself):

hmmm this is even more confusing to me now because your pinout says 22 on x20 is o2 sensor relay, the rtsauto pinout says pin 22 x20 is diagnostic connector, and when i followed the wire physically it went to the starter... now that i think about it there was another wire with that wire that may in fact be going to the starter relay. I will check that and then it might just be a bad relay possibly? I will be back with my findings.

Well the O2 sensors are getting power without pin 22 attached so I just unhooked it and called it a day
