thanks! yea, this car is perfect to go nuts with on modifications. it's been totaled at least once before I got it, and it shows when you really look at the car up close, but you have to know where to look. Also, as you can see, when I got it, someone replaced the driver's side door, but then wrecked it again.... so I did pay too much for it originally looking back on it, but what better car to put under the knife than a worthless one? I had nothing to loose!Comment

some pics of engine bay cleaning progress. pretty sure I have the stock tach wired up now too, I'll have to wait till the engine has a fuel supply to be sure though.
wire loom in the rain tray:
did someone leave a sandwich in my rain tray?
nope, false alarm:
the only part that really bothers me, besides the factory fuse/relay box
I think I'm just going to make a cover that bolts over that ugliness.
not sure if I'm going to re-locate the factory fuse/relay box, it would be kind of a pain in the ass. it's going to have the primered in progress look under the hood until I feel like pulling the engine... who knows if/when that will happen.Comment

the drive line adapter is near completion:
I've just got to get it on a lathe and make room for it to clear the pinion on the BMW side of things. the Mazda side is perfect though. Also, it needs some counter sinks and some bolts. Just wanted to show what it was so far since many of you were probably curious about how the drive line was going to be legit. I was fortunate enough to have a fellow member of my car club design this for me, but I had to pay a premium for the machine work... worth it to not have my car loose control like that again though.Comment

Great work. Keep it up man!Yours truly,

thank you. most of the work on the drive line adapter isn't mine, but I had a part in it, and I had the concept. I was fortunate to have a member of the car club member draw it up on cad for me and a friend of my dad's help with the final machine work after the water jet work was done.Comment

I love it. Reminds me of my parents' old car.
Some idiot caused my mom to drive it into a tree.
I love the stance.

thanks dudes
should be a pretty smooth process to finish fixing the car now.
sorry, these some how got way out of order.
I did some polyurethane caulking in the bushings cause it seemed like it couldn't hurt to try, but the tube kind of fell apart and it made a really big mess... so hopefully they are at least better than they were, I know they definitely look worse... I guess I'll know if that was a good idea or not soon enough.
it's official, this car now has both sub frames modified.Comment

So, the mount for the fuel cell is in, the fuel pump is mounted, and the send line is complete. I need to get some more fuel line, then do the return and vent lines and some wiring... then... WAMMY! I can put some fuel in it and start it up.
here you can see where I routed the sending line, the return line will be in there too. it's a factory conduit thing that the vent line was in before.
my return fitting and my vent fitting. the vent one is the taller one, it has one of those ball deals in it for safety.
I decided this was the best place for the fuel pump. I wanted it easy to access, and I didn't want to hit it with too much junk from my trunk.
here you can see the ghetto way I mounted my ghetto fuel cell mount. The front is just bolted right to the sheet metal, and the other mounts towards the back of the car are just angle iron tabs.
and here you can see the other end of the fuel line conduit. it exits in line with the factory send and return hard lines. On the send line, the guy at fluid connectors dismantled the factory bolt on fitting for me so I could just hose clamp the brand new fuel line on there. That store is swell!

drive line: it had to be upsized from the 2.5" tube an RX 7 would run to a 3" tube because of the length so it wouldn't whip and kink like the old one did. it has some kind of dodge slip yoke at the front which fits into the RX7 trans perfectly, at the back is an RX7 yoke, but there is a machined sleeve to make it fit the 3" tube.
quick and dirty drive line safety strap:

My car is alive again!!!!
I wired up the factory tach, it will do 8k with no trouble at all.
