    Here's a totally random question

    Bolting on an e46 330i 6-speed in an e30; is an E36 M3 auto driveshaft is the correct length like I hear? Or do I need a completely custom driveshaft?

      Just to make sure we're clear, you don't just "bolt" that transmission in. :p It requires custom mounts. But as for the driveshaft, I don't remember.

        lol at this m30 talk. y'all bash them when I say I want to do it.

        I bet I could refresh an m30b35 and do a mild turbo build for the price of a proper s5x swap.

          I know; I read up on that part, you need to modify the shift linkage, shift carrier, trams bracket, pound in the transmission tunnel yadda yadda yadda. All in all; it doesn't sound terribly hard, just need to figure out driveshaft stuff

          A few members here have done it, but only using custom stuff, but I could've sworn there was a guy on BF.C that did it with an e36 M3 auto half-shaft mated to the rear end e30 shaft

            Went to Eric's house today (Cabriolet), he schooled me on what to look for when buying a car, also let me drive his vert. Eric said to definitely not buy an 87 anyone else have some I put on this, not that I don't believe him, I just want to see what others have to say.

                IIRC 87s have pre-facelift M20s
                They'll slightly more... stranger to work on. Face-lift M20s are by far the most user friendly engine

                When it comes to e30s you want to keep as cruiser cars/daily drivers, 88 and up is where you should go
