    Cutting my springs.......

Ok so I need some help.... I really want to lower my car. So what I was thinking was that I could cut a small portion out of the springs to make it lower. Has anyone done this??? Does it affect the ride quality or alignment of the car??? Or is there a better way to do it???

you are going to need new struts if you lower your car and you have the stock struts. the stock struts wont put up with the cut springs. they will blow out.

If you do it your life will be filled with ridicule and sadness from that point forward.

Fixed. The struts don't have to be changed at all unless you're doing coilovers. It's the shocks that have to be paired with stiffer/lower springs.

No, don't cut your springs, this is not a Honda.

And, CorvallisBMW, your sig offends me and my religious beliefs by poking humor at REAL scriptural references.

OK, maybe not. I just don't understand it.

hahahahaha!!!!so i did it and i did it the cheap way!!!! basically i cut about a coil and a half out. then i made a cup that had a spiral in it so that the spring would still sit the same as before. And believe it or not but it actually worked and i love the way it rides!!! it is a little bit stiffer than before but that is what i wanted, it helps in taking corners. so i say hahaha to all the haters and doubters!!!! i will post pictures soon!!!
