    M30 AFM+19lbs= WOW!

No kiddin', I am very impressed. I just completed the swap and seriously, it makes a substantial difference. I had the parts sitting around for several months, and today, finally decided to do the deal.

Ran like crap for a bit, but then finally smoothed out, and I can't wait for my rematch with Eric G's ///M3. Last time we ran, he spanked me once we got up to speed, but now, I think I can give him a run. It's going to be fun regardless, b/c either way, mine definitely feels better than it did.

Anybody that has been considering this swap but hasn't done it b/c of negative comments regarding the results of the swap, get over 'em and do this. It's sooo worth your effort.

    Nice work

I'm a big believer in the 19lb/m30 afm aswell. People can knock it but I never will.

Yeah, I was a bit skeptical myself, maybe one of the reasons it took me so long to finish it, but damn, it's so worth it. I will take some pics later.

So you used the 027 board and did nothing to it? Just plopped in and ran it?

Yup. Runs fine now, as good as before. I do smell a lot of gas right now, but not sure if it's from what spilled during the process, or other. Anybody know? Will it resolve?

That's from the injector swap if you didn't do any prep work before pulling the hoses and the rail or whatever.

I don't remember how long it took for the smell to go away, but it will.

But if it's like three days and you're still smelling gas, I'd recheck the connections haha

That helps then, thanks. I also have a BMP AFPR, but didn't do that today. I gotta get some misc. pieces in order to complete that part as well as an Air/Fuel gauge. Later on that stuff, but for now, I'm happy.

How does "swapping in e30 electronics" compare to just plugging up a 027 unit? And what exactly is involved in the "swapping" process?

After reading RCWells's praises, I think I might consider this, seeing that I already have the injectors, more air could only help my cause. :-D

Reroute that AFM cord, or put a protector over that sharp metal edge. Thats a short waiting to happen.

Why the fuck do soooo many people disagree on this mod (m30 afm)? It seems one month theres a huge thread on how it sucks, next month theres a thread like this. What gives people?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.
