200.00 is virtually free and I will happily pay when the 380 325is chip is available. Hell I'll pay now if you want!

There are no performance chips available from BMW in NA.
      What did this chip cost?

I find it hard to believe that a 318iS with a chip can keep up with a stock 325i, there would still be a good difference in power but I've never compared the two.

Oh i dont have just a chip to enable the car to keep up with a 325i.

The chip was very expencive from BMW, its available over the counter here in the UK. I dont know the exact cost as i was given a copy.

Gonna have to call fake on this one. Its like the fake chips on ebay, from tuners that never made chips for the E30.

Dude call all you want, the GroupN Chip is well known in the racing circles in Europe and if you go onto 318is.de im sure you will find more information on this.

That site is in German so not easy to navigate, and I don't see any SEARCH capability there. I found one recent post http://f50.parsimony.net/cgi-bin/mes...9&Beitrag=6139 which I translated to English with altavista, here is what it says:

I have nen group of N chip of BMW in it. One does not have more achievement thereby, but he turns to 7000 1/min, which with the Rallye is of advantage often. I already heard that with ner cam shaft (e.g. of Schrick) and a chip of e.g. pro Racing are 10,-15 HP more in it. If someone promises clearly more, I would be sceptical, which he should occupy with a test stand measurement.

So it seems that chip has a 7000 rpm rev limit and nothing else.

I have found that some people expect massive gains with chips, but most people have engines that are not even making stock figures, a good basic engine will produce better results than one which has for example leaking inlet gaskets, worn ignition parts, worn AFM. Most E30's unless looked after by BMW most of their life will be suffering from these fundamental and critical component failures.
Its hard to compare one car to the next, the BMW chip did wonders for my car. The power delivery went all the way to 7k rpm. Im not really interested in the Peak figures but the area under the graph.
If you are wiling to email me a copy of the Eprom of your chip i would be very happy to test it for you.

                    Alex (Syko) said:

"Rob installed one of the chips MarkD sent him into my car last night and it feels great so far, definitely a noticeable improvement over stock and the 7,100rpm redline is very nice. It revs a bit more quickly which is very nice, I'd definitely reccomend this chip to anyone thinking about getting one. Being able to do 60 in 2nd is great."

ust FYI: Alex has a pristine, bone stock 318iC with ~50k miles on it.

I should be dynoing my car sometime next week.

dont get 93 octane in NC, 87, 89, and 93. I dont really know the ratio I'd have to use to get 92 octane, you figure that out, and tell me, i'll try it out...

1 gallon of 89 and 3 gallons of 93 will make 4 gals of 92.
