    Possible oil level (dynamic) sensor?

I'm wondering if this could be the oil level (dynamic)
    It's a '92 vanos motor.

I am 100% positive that these pin #'s and colors are correct for my car and my motor.

I'm really just stumped about dynamic oil level switch.

Hope someone can help me out.

      I don't think a e34 diagram would help me. I have a e36 harness.

That wire, going threw pin 5 of the X20 is an AC pressure sig. to the ECU.
Dynamic oil I believe is pin 10 on the X20(at least on a 95 m3 it is)

You need to wire in the E34 oil level sender separate from your E36 harness. It's three wires - two signal wires and a ground.

So you will need to wire in both the dynamic (E30 pin #10) and static (E30 pin #2) signals from the sender or it won't work properly.

What does the oil level sensor do? Trigger that idiot light by the sunroof crank? What if I don't hook those up at all?

All it does is trigger that idiot light. It shouldn't create any problems with starting or running.

I just wanted to get all of the lights on the check panel to work, and it was real easy to wire up. It took all of 5 minutes.

Gotcha. My check panel has been disabled since I've owned the car. I have enough free time to take 10 minutes to check my fluids every so often.

The thing is, I don't have anything in pin 10

mike b, can you pm me with further instructions on how to wire these oil level sensors correctly?

                  thanks

Also, What shuold I hook e30 pin 20 to? What does it do?

And for the m50, does pin 11 (engine temp) need to be plugged into anything?

The E30 pin #20 (red/yellow) is power to the ABS. I tapped a wire into one of the red/white wires (power-switched) coming out of the main relay and ran it to pin #20.

                      I didn't run E36 pin #11 to anything.

It can't get power from x20 pin 24?

It needs power from any source that is 12v during switched and run. If x20 pin 24 can give you this, then go ahead and use it.

from what i read in this thread is that even if the oil level sensors arne't hooked up, the car will still run how it should? even if both static and dynamic aren't hooked up?

yes, the oil level sensor is only connected to the overhead check panel.

make sure the power you send to the abs comes from a "reliable" source that can handle the amperage. DONT pull it off some teeny wire. it will fry.

                              cheers, jason
