My 330i got tapped by a crypt-keeper looking old fart that had just gotten knee surgery a week after I bought it. Luckily it was slow enough that it left no mark, but it still pissed me off. The stupid son of a bitch had knee surgery and knew that he wouldn't be able to put any pressure on the brake pedal but he drove anyway. I still regret not calling the cops, he could have easily not been able to hit the brakes hard enough to avoid running over some poor kid next... :curse:

These assholes that put everyone else on the road in danger because they don't want the inconvenience of taking public transportation need to be taken off the road. Preferably before they kill someone like that guy that plowed through the farmer's market a couple of years ago. I simply can't understand the selfishness they show by continuing to drive when they know they can't do it safely anymore. My town has a very high percentage of seniors and a huge percentage of them truly have no business behind the wheel.

Is the towel on the roof of the CLK necessary at this point?

My mom used to have a 1997 M3 4 door, in cosmos. About 3 weeks after she got it a 90 year old with an oxygen tank took a turn too wide and hit my mom head on. No one was hurt, except the M3. Totalled.

I got hit head on by a 70 year old lady on the service road beside the walmart a parking lot. She claimed that the car slipped on a wet spot causing the car to swerve into my lane. But after the police officer investigated the area of the collision, there was no debris, water, or anything else to cause the surface of the road to be altered.

Personally I think she blacked out because when she hit me, there were no skid marks nor did she appear to be distressed at the time of impact. I figured that she wanted to make a left turn in front of me into the parking lot and she was too impatient to wait for me to pass.

i think they should give driving tests from 70 up

a 90 yo woman with an o2 tank should not be allowed in the front seat of a car

Yeah, it's for grip, not protection.

50 is a bit young IMO. My parents are both in their 50s and not even close to being nuts or unsafe drivers.

That's not to say all 50 years old are like that. But you are right, most 50 years old are completely fine.

i say 65 year olds. once you retire you should have to take a driving exam yearly or at least a vision test maybe.

I think it should be as soon as you have a stroke, heart attack, hip surgery, need an oxygen tank or something like that, then you should be required to do yearly driving tests. my grandparents are in their 70s and are both fine drivers, but they are very healthy people, neither of them have had any major medical problems.

I wouldn't say yearly, probably every 5 years would suffice. I bet half the people wouldn't even bother, they would just stop driving.

I like how all three cars involved are german cars.
