M30 Swap using M20 Power Steering Pump

Getting ready to drop my M30 into my 89 325i and I'm trying to sort out a few loose ends. My M30 (from an e34) didn't come with a PS pump. My E30 one was working fine, and after doing some research it seems that I can use the M20 one and all will be well. Is that correct?

Assuming the pump itself should work, what brackets will I need to buy in order to make this work? Looking at the diagram I'm thinking #5 and #6?

Or should I say fug it and try to find an e34 pump at a yard?

    Thanks in advance

If I remember correctly, the pulleys between the m20 & m30 are different by offset.

    The pump is the same.

Pumps are slightly different, pulleys are slightly different.
I installed an M20 pump on my M30 car and its working fine.

Great, thanks guys. I was able to find the brackets at a yard, and will be running my m20 pump with an m30 pulley.

I used an e28 pump which is the same as the m20 pump and it works fine. Had to use the m20 adjustment arm since the m30 one was toast, but everything works fine. Needs a shorter belt though.

I found that a Car Quest XL 7395 belt which is 10mm x 1018mm OC fit perfectly.

The M10 pump also works with M30 brackets fitted to it. My steering actually felt better with the M10 pump as it provides lower pressure (hence less assistance / meatier steering without being overly heavy).

                Interesting observation!

Sure the pump off the m10 Isn't just more worn out than your last?

Sorry to bring back an old thread but is this refering to the m20 in an e28 or e30? or both? Because I am trying to do this and it seems the m20 pump from my 91 e30 is a little smaller/different than the 91 e34 m30 pump. I thought to maybe switch the brackets over but they don't really align. Any help is appreciated.

I ended up having to buy an M30 pump. I couldn't figure out how to get the one from my E30 (M20B25) aligned correctly

Thats exactly what I'm going through. I think I may have sourced a m30 pump from craigslist however.
