This is my favorite thread on R3v. I know I haven't posted much lately, but I check it daily. Hopefully my engine swap will be done soon so I can get started on the rest of the car. My coilovers came in last week.

I haven't updated much since I'm still waiting on parts.

I had to pull my under tray and trim in order to replace my power steering pump. I will take some pictures and maybe template a few things. While I have it apart. I have 2 custom panels that are a variation on the 2 factory panels that fill the gap between the under tray and the inner wheel well liners. They were templated off of the factory piece, but turn up higher to meet the fender liner without using the little plastic pieces that break and may now be NLA. You could make these of abs plastic if you can bend 90 degrees. Mine are made of sheet metal which structurally ties everything together nicely. More to come...

Nice, look forward to the pictures. I am making it a point to come visit you before or by fall time. Thanks for being patient!

                          MT1 Undertray etc.

Had to remove the undertray and custom infill panels in order to replace my power steering pump. Here is a photo of the custom infill panels. They are modeled after the factory panels but extend up to meet the plastic fender liner

Here is a shot of the undertray with the holes cut for the brake ducts

closer shot of one custom infill panel

Here is a shot from below without the undertray...note shiny new power steering pump in foreground

undertray installed without the infill panel from below

undertray installed without infill panel view from wheel well

infill panel installed view from below

another view from below with one side installed

here is a view of the infill panel installed view from the wheel well

All back together and no more steering groan at parking speeds. Replaced the pump, reservoir, hoses, belt, flushed the fluid from the rack and replaced with redline synthetic. I can finally fully appreciate the Z3 rack upgrade now.

Wow, great pictures and explanations. I will be referencing this thread a lot as I build my car.

Sorry about the delay on picking up parts. I can give you another down-payment no problem.

Would you mind letting me know were you got your plastic that you made those pieces out of? Also, how did you bend it? Thanks!

<edit> or are those made from metal?
