so i recently installed a new to me top, my old tops back window has broken out this past winter do to freezing and literally falling out in pieces. any who, my old top had a certain amount of shims installed, iirc 5 on the horizontal bolt on both sides and 3 on the vertical bolt on the passenger side and 5 on the driver side, when i installed the top i reinstalled with the same amount of shims and now the top has a lot of tension when locked it to the windshield frame also it sits about 1/2'' about the storage lid. i know i can trial and error for awhile to figure out what the right amount fits and works but am wondering if anyone knows if there is a standard setup for shims used.

The factory method for the amount ofmshims involves measuring down from a straight edge laid across the body Without the top frame and with the inner panels removed. There are pics in the early pages of my barn find build thread.
Reality is, that the bodies are no longer the same as they were when built and for sure the frames are no longer equal and that trial and error is the answer. You should be able to come pretty close to estimating how many shims to add or remove before you remove the top frame so it's a one or 2 step process.Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch.
