The last post happened in February, still catching up on updated. Took a break for a week or two to do some other stuff.
Headgasket on the 240 after it blew at Buttonwillow. Pretty much done gripping with the s13, back to full drift duty. Don't use cheap chinese head gaskets...
Working on a side project for my roomates 135, mocking up some brackets to CAD out for his upgraded oil cooler. We had a welded steel version, these will be water jetted aluminum. Once the we're done tweaking the brackets, these kits will be on sale for e8x/e9x N54/55 135i and 335i.
Daud also got some stickers for our group made. Came out pretty well. They are for sale, but no one here cares lol.
And next weekend, another
at Streets of Willow. We're in deep now boys

Timing
Still catching up on updates.
Took off the brand new water pump that came with the motor. It does indeed look brand new. However, the savage who put it on siliconed the pump on instead of using the gasket, AND siliconed on top of the old water pipe orings.
So I spent about 30min cleaning all the off and replaced the orings with new ones.:-?
I also inspected the 5 speed e34 transmission that came with the motor. A nub had been cracked off and glued back on. Probably will be fine, but this will be my spare transmission.
So with most of the easy stuff taken apart, i started to turn to the timing system. Upper covers taken off, pretty nasty build up.
The guides i could see from the upper case looked good
But since my slogan for this build is "do it right once" I will be replacing the main guides and chain. The upper chains are too much of a pain and look fine. Plus if those break its not as big of a deal as the lower guides.
Then, it took me about 2 weeks to get the jesus bolt off. 700ft-lb impact couldnt take it off. So I bought the crank tool. Since my engine stand is near the limit of the motor, I attached the hoist for additional support.
Set up:
First 1/2" breaker bar with jack handles as cheater cars:
Second 1/2" breaker bar with 10ft steel thick wall pipe as cheater bar:
I tried torching the bolt really hot through all this as well. Then i tried a bigger impact gun. And then i tried drilling the head of the bolt out.
FINALLY, with the crank holder pushing on the ground, a 3/4" drive breaker bar, a 10ft pipe, and 15min of heating it:
Thank goodness. More catching up to do soon. We're in deep now boys

Got the core support out. One of the things i've been worrying about, as I haven't cut one out before
And we got some new headlights for the 240 so that we dont die at night
