It won't work. I have the same paint - it will soften it a little bit, but basically it's part of the paint now. if you really try to clean it you'll take the paint with it. so I just left it alone. Zymol Strik was a bit of a waste of money.
      nando,
thanks for the heads up..is there anything else that might work or just leave that shit alone?

you can try it, I mean it'll work on the engine etc. It just didn't do much on mine.

Simple green soaked on the fenders worked some as well, but really you have to scrape it off with something soft. my fingernail worked but that would take.. forever!

I figure one day I'll just repaint the entire engine bay.

also, it's a rust protectant. no reason not to just leave it alone. it's ugly but at least it's not rusty!

Ok, so I took my intake mani out to clean, it's disgusting. I'm replacing gaskets and painting the manifold also valve cover gasket and painting as well, anything else I should do while I'm here? Fuel injectors should I just clean them or replace with bigger ones? Thanks in advance!

fuel injectors you're best leaving alone - have them rebuilt, or get rebuilt ones. going with larger ones typically (but not always) causes problems. and if the motor is stock, there's no real gains.

I've seen a polished valve cover before, it looks awesome.. just takes a lot of work!

do the intake manifold too. :D

                              Removing cosmoline

Cosmoline will come off easily if you use oven cleaner. Just paint it on with a brush, leave it for 20 minutes and take it off with one of those sink scrub pads. Be careful of the aluminium intake manifold though it stains that.
