Hopefully least question ... Fuel issue.

Title is supposed to be "Hopefully Last Question"

Brand new stroked engine. Car starts up then stalls out (I've already read a lot on the issue, im hoping to narrow down the possibilities with my description)

Car starts within seconds (Almost everytime) won't idle but I can press the gas and get it to run though it always trying to die. Everytime I press the gas the rpm's go up and fall down almost instantly, and when I press the gas again I get a severely delayed reaction before it fights to stay alive.

I'm assuming fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator, any opinions before I drop next week's paycheck on this?

Well it's not the fuel pump...

I bought my '92 with this symptom. After replacing almost everything in intake/gas/ignition (except throttlebody) and kind of getting it to run the last two things were throttlebody & gas return line being clogged.

      Good luck.

So you never got it working right?

Just changed the FPR, no change. Also does not want to rev past 3k rpms...

          No, those were the solutions.

Also, this is a very helpful thread:

Thanks for the input. I have all new gaskets around the throttle body, I guess it could be a clogged return line but I'm not really thinking it is because I blew air through the rubber lines before I started it (after removing it from the hard line). Could this be TPS sensor related? (all the reading ive done doesn't say that a bad TPS would cause the car to stall, just poor economy, and idling issues)

Stomp test throws 1444 which apparently means everything is fine, which is a LIE!

The easy tests are checking fuel pressure if it is high most likely the return is clogged. The problem with my TB was the brass fitting for the ICV was loose allowing a vacuum leak.

I guess ill give it a try in the morning, although im not looking forward to getting covered in gas again. Also im not sure if this clogged line wouldn't allow me to rev past 3k rpms.

Not a clogged fuel line. Changed the fuel relay too, and it seemed to help a little as far as hesitation goes, but car still wants to die.

Did you check fuel pressure? Also, injectors, fuel filter, MAF, TPS, spark plugs wires cap rotor etc?

If all of that has been done, then I suggest taking it to someone that specializes in e30s.

I don't have the tools for a fuel pressure test but I have replaced: injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, cap, rotor, spark plugs, fuel pump relay, also using a miller MAF.

The only things I haven't replaced are the CPS, TPS, spark plug wires, coil

Did you modify the right wire when you did the Miller MAF?

I'd put the oem maf & chip back and see if it runs just to rule that out.

The MAF is setup correctly because I had it running before I rebuilt the motor. I'm replacing the main relay next but I need to wait until that arrives.

Did you look at the contacts in the relays & sockets? also how about your ground wires? It really needs good grounds & they get really messy over time.
