I just ratchet on the crank. Don't even bother with the plugs.

Although, you could use it as an excuse to swap the plugs.

What I like to do is lift up a corner and turn the wheel in gear.
I know you didn't ask but funny we all have different ways to do it.

Or you can do them in the firing order and only have to turn the crank 360 deg total =P 22mm wrench

I find the compression can make it hard to hit TDC perfectly as it wants to roll past the top. Removing the plugs eliminates that problem. Plus it's just easier to turn with the plugs out.

Doesnt have to be exactly tdc. The cam lobe just has to point down. Theres like 100 degrees of tolerance on the back side of the cam lobe.

                        I'm confused. I thought all 4-doors had s14 motors and 2-doors housed m10s?

Or when they are advertised as V6. That really makes my skin crawl.

I made sure the lobes were pointing down. Also since the plugs were removed, I placed a long screw driver in the socket and made sure my piston was all the way up.

valve adjustments are so easy lol just use your head and understand how a camshaft interacts with the valves. that said, I can do one in about 30 minutes or less, its really easy - even if you use a 22mm wrench on the crankshaft by hand.

loos eccentric 10mm nut, stick feeler gauge between eccentric and valve and then push the eccentric down with your finger. tighten. done.

I find rolling the eccentric down by hand, or more like just your index finer, makes a good, appropriate, and uniform drag quickly and easily.

I got the spring tool. I've only used it once though - but it is pretty nice. it puts exactly the right amount of pressure on the eccentric every time.
