    Under hood insulation trim

Does anyone know a part number for the one-piece underhood insulation trim panel?

My old es had just one panel that covered all of the underside of the hood... my ix has three separate insulation pads... I liked the look of the old es one, but when I look it up on RealOEM, it comes up as the 3 panel pad.

Anyone know a part number around this?

These are what I found from REALOEM:

51488103380 is the one-piece (I used my 87 convertible as the search car in RealOEM). RealOEM says "ended".

51481972245 is the three piece set up to 8/1989

51488103798 is the three piece set after 8/1989

I think I do remember seeing that the one piece was no longer available, but it does come up as a valid part number on my BMW - Mini Parts store search. I can't vouch for current availability.

I do agree with you on the one-piece vs. the three piece. Those three pieces of deteriorating Styrofoam that was littering my engine bay were the first things that came off my IX!

That is about what I have figured out in the interim... NLA for the nice one-piece.

The good news is, it's probably the least interesting piece for someone to take off a junker, so just look around

I just removed mine since it was rubbing on the intake manifold and getting ratty. It doesn't actually dampen engine noise, either.

But it does help prevent the hood paint from being baked...especially the way Some people drive :)
