M54 Swap

So I know there are a million swap threads and I have been reading through them, as well as the IX specific one, but I just want a list. What are the pieces I need to start collecting to get this done. I have a 3.0 now sitting at my house and my M20 is dying. My car will be running no power steering and no A/C.

I guess it depends - are you doing the frankenpan, or something entirely custom?

The frankenpan is the simplest by far, and has been done a number of times. AFAIK, only Nisse has successfully done a swap using the oil pan/diff from another car.

if it's a frankenpan, I think you basically need to cut and weld the ix pan to an M50 pan, and the rest basically bolts up using ix mount arms, etc. The one difficult spot is the brake booster, since the engine will be at a 20 degree angle instead of 30 degrees.

which M54 is it? is it MS43 or MS45?
