Signs that an oil baffle is needed?

In a situation where an oil pan baffle is needed, are there any signs of such a need prior to the engine grenading? Does the oil pressure light come on? Or is pressure maintained but with the pump sucking air?

If you have a worry about it, install a oil gauge and keep an eye on it.

When the gauge suddenly dips from 55 psi to 40 or less.

(so no, as soon as it sucks air, pressure drops)

      Turn 5 in Portland, certainly,
takes a baffle plus 1/8" or so above full.
