I would hate to be the drivers of the prototype challenge cars when it rains. Specially when it was raining hard over night.

The C7 weighs a little less than the F82 so I would figure they would weigh about the same in race trim too. I think its some type of marketing thing. Personally I think they've ruined the M3/4 brand and even the ///M brand in general so I don't care what they race.
I am really happy to see Ford doing so well. I would have loved to see a Ford and Ferrari fight at the end, but I'll take that Porsche and Ford battle. My Garage

Supposedly though BMW is working in something big for the 2018 24hr of le mans. Could be a new car? They couldn't go there now with the current configuration cause they lack top end speed and the big long straights would kill them.

Why base the race car on the big M6 instead of a 3-4 or better yet lightweight 2-series? Is it marketing? Is it rules that keep it in the same weight class as Corvettes etc? Just curious.

They both use same wheel base and v8 platform. Im sure there is other things too. To be able to run the GT classes it has be to be based off the street car. Wouldn't be surprised if they started life as an m6 and under go serious surgery.

The one thing I love about the Continental Tire Series is that a lot of the cars in that were bought off the showroom floor, gutted, caged, than raced. In fact the Audi's that run in it use the factory steering wheel. I think its so they can use the flappy paddle gear box, but I could be wrong about that.My Garage
