    S52 dyno results - low?

Just got back from a dyno run this afternoon. My graph and mods are below. My peak number was 225 rwhp SAE (which was 231 unadjusted – it was ~55 deg F & 65% humidity).

The engine was reported to have about 60k miles when I bought it, I have put about 200 miles on since the swap. The head/bottom of the block were pretty clean when I had the cover/oil pan off. The tranny is a ZF-320 w/rebuilt synchros. Pretty much everything is new (injectors, MAF, oxygen sensor, spark plugs, hoses, gaskets, ignition coils, sensors, etc.) I'm running Mobil 1 15w-50, which I just changed. I run Shell 91 octane with a little bit of booster (we can't get any higher than 91 octane here in Cali).

    The dy
no is a Dynojet 248H, FWIW. The A/F looks decent, the only real anomaly is the flatness after 5500 RPM.

I'm a bit disappointed in the number – it's not terrible but based on what I have seen here and on BFc I should probably be closer to 235ish. The DSR guys agree, they have seen several E36's and engine swapped cars with similar mods. Anyone have any ideas? Nothing to cry about, but if there is 10 more HP in my set up, I'd like to have it back! :letitout:

    Mods:
    S52 w/ full OBD-1 conversion
CAI (a bit janky/temporary, but it does have 6” of tube before the MAF and a heat shield)
    3.5” 540i MAF
    Riot Racing BB Throttle-body
    24 lb pink top injectors
    eBay OBD-2 knock-off headers
    OBD-1 e36 cats w/ custom 2.5” merge
    Stromung exhaust
    Fan delete w/ 14” SPAL
    AC delete
    UUC 8.5lb flywheel
    UUC performance organic clutch
Turner chip for the above (PN
    5060-3004)

24 lb blue top injectors, right? Not pink top (stock, 21.5 lb/hr)?

Looks too rich up top for some reason.

        Um, I think the 0 280 150 917 is a 19 lb injector. The blue top 0 280 150 947 are the 24 lb injectors.

Flat spot is odd. 947 is 260CC

That's interesting, I have not had that experience. This was my third stop at their Dyno. It's not cheap, but if you work with Dick it's worth it. He knows the car and fuel injection systems pretty well.

i think you are running rich, it lays down up top when you hit 12:1 a/f n/a motors want it leaner. if you do a 1.2* 225 you get 270hp isn't that more than the engine was rated? maybe too much octane. the engine was made for 91 i believe.

use the proper oil for the engine 15w50 is a diesel oil. get some 5w30 in that thing. you could get 3hp on just that.

Everything above 6.5k is 0.5points to rich.

And that dip in the curve shows a un-matched chip if normally it doesn´t show on other cars with the same setup.

Also where are you loosing the 10hp?
Is the torque curve similar to similar engine combos?

I'm comparing mostly to the dyno results thread on BFc. They have a pretty good thread there if you haven't checked it out...

The injectors are an interesting point. Does anyone have a set of the 24 lb injectors that they could check the PN on? If my injectors are too large, that would explain the mis-match with the chip.

My BONE STOCK m20b25 smoking like a chimney @200k Miles w/ a t3/t04e @ 10 psi put down 238.5 whp on a dyno dynamics.. thats around 15% less than a dynojet number. I would be disappointed too.
