so i just got in an accident..

for the record, i was going over the speed limit, so i take complete blame for this..

this literally just happened like a half hour ago (~3am), so i was driving my friend home from a party (i was sober), all of a sudden some guy comes flying around a curve with his high beams on, about a foot or two over the yellow line, so i swerve to avoid hitting him, end up sliding one way, then overcorrected and ended up the other way and hit a guard rail at about 10 or 15 mph..

damage-wise, my drivers side fender is bend in right next to the low beam, both my drivers side low and high beams got destroyed, along with my drivers side headlight grill and kidneys, also scraped the front top of the hood just a little.. mechanically i dont think anything got affected (thank god), i checked and made sure i wasnt leaking any fluids or anything, and drove away

the headlights and grills will be easy and cheap to replace but idk about the fender, i fear it may be beyond repair, so that will def cost the most to replace..

im pretty shook up but me and my passenger are alright. it could have been A LOT worse, especially if the engine was damaged

my mom wants me to call the insurance company, but i doubt they will be able to do anything for me besides penalizing us for filing a claim.

they will also prob total your car for you (insurance) because it is an old car

Yup if you call the insc you will have a total and then if you buy it back an fix it you have a salvage title.

Well, hood is an easy 4 or 5 bolts to replace. but shipping is a whore.

Front fenders on our cars almost fall off when you wave a wrench at them - just be glad it wasn't a rear quarter - or I'd pull a OG move and say "part it out".

You've suffered a VERY minor accident. It won't buff out - you'll need either to replace panels or have a body shop tend to it.

Did your wheels hit a curb? then you are looking at suspension damage.

OP I bet your accident was caused by the massive blind spot that windsield mounted antenna and windshield banner provide . :p

fenders like ten bolts thats an easy pull... i had a similar accident when i first started driving. find a junkyard thats having a %xx off body panels day and youll get a fender for $5 or $10 bucks. i got one a couple of months ago for my fiances project car for $11. have it painted and slap it on. the headlights and grill are easy to replace but ellipsoids new are $$$$. look around on here for replacements. your cars pretty clean man, i definitely wouldnt call insurance if i were you.

don't be so sure you can buy it back from the insurance. i know for a fact that state farm has changed their policy and the totals now go directly to auction with out giving the owner a chance to buy it back first. everyone else is following suit. find out first, before you make a claim

You can totally repair that damage - the radiator support and support member around the headlight buckets looks ok. The hood looks like it escaped serious damage too. You lucked out.
