    mild build thread bbs content

    this is my build thread

    the car:
i found a grandma cali car on the east coast with 87k original miles. mint 89 325i bronzit coupe. bought it and waited a month for the title to come in from cali.

    the project:
complete a mild mostly appearance build for a D/D that will hopefully turn a few heads.
    the start:
dont actually have any pics of the car just yet, but will soon in the future

    here are the wheels:
BBS RM001's only set ive seen in the US so far. dont have too much info on what these originally came on. i know the normal RM's came on 16v mkII gti's, but these are way different. to start off the barrels are 6.5" as opposed to 6". the faces are completely flat. the et is 25. they are identical in width and et to the RS001, just obviously not 3-piece. the caps are half caps as well. im pretty stoked i found them, and plan on adding new lips and a somewhat different paint scheme ;)

    the progress:
wrenchin (most of the nastiness you see if coming off of the bolts)

    gettin there:

two reference shots to show the difference between my roomie's vw RM and my RM001:

hope you enjoy and i will try and update as frequently as time allows.

very nice! where did you get your lips from? after my swap/body work is finished up im guna move on to gettin new lips for my OZ vegas. I found out that RS/RM 15" 30 hole lips will work i just need to find a set. im still indecided if i want to stagger or not, i should because the wheels are et27 which would be perfect for some 3" lips in the rear :)

did all the bolt come out pretty easy? what did you use to seal the lips to the barrels?

btw i like the pb blaster in the kitchen, nothin like pb blaster and pancakes in the morning, smells like victory

haha, thanks for the compliments. the car isnt much to look at right now. ill snap some pictures and get them up hopefully today. splitting the rims isnt that hard, just time consuming. grab a few beers and the right tools. def some PB blaster, breaker bar, and the appropriate sockets/wrenches. i havent sealed the new lips, but i plan on running a thin bead on the outside of the bolt face and another once the lips are torqued down to the outside of the barrel. and dont worry the PB was sprayed outside ;)

bah, one is the RM001 (right) and the other is the normal RM. look at the last photo and you can see that the face of the RM001 is completely flat. the barrel is also 1/2" wider. the inner barrel and face are painted anthracite on the RM001 which is the reason for the darker appearance. reading helps
