    Feeler: 87 325is track car

This is only a feeler, I'm curious what the car is worth and if there is a market for such a car right now, and if so, will move forward.

    87 325is
I am the 2nd owner, I purchased it in April 2007 from the original owner who kept it stock and daily drove it mainly on highways.
    All original body and paint
    ~260k miles
    10-15 track days, Maybe 30 autox's

I may also have access to a 120k mile m20b25, getrag 260, driveshaft, and 3.73 LSD which could be included or even installed for a great discount over what this would cost considering general forum prices. This current engine runs great (see dyno), but the engine and trans do have small leaks.

All parts listed below done between April 2007 and now, and have maybe 3k miles on them.
    • H&R Race springs
    • Bilstein Sport struts/shocks
    • Brembo rotors
    • Hawk HT-10 and HPS pads
    • Control arms, bushings, and tie rods, guibo, CSB, timing belt, cap/plugs/rotor etc...
    • HD rear shock mounts
    • RUF front camber plates
    • AKG Motorsports 75D polyurathane motor and trans mounts
    • Sachs Clutch
    • 25mm brake master cylinder
    • Bavarian Autosport teflon coated stainless steel brake lines
    • e36 M3 shifter
    • Redline fluids
    • Autopower 4 point race roll bar w/ removable cross-bar
    • SFI 45.1 padding
    • G-Force 6 point cam lock harnesses
    • Corbeau FX-1 Pro fixed back fiberglass seat
    • Massive Lee seat side mounts
    • I/O Port seat back brace
    • Kumho V710 R-comps on 14x6.5 basketweaves
    • 8 never mounted Hankook Z214 205/50/16 r comps
    • Rota Slipstream 16x8 et20 w/ 4 used Z214's
    • Dinan chip
    • Electric fan conversion
    • Removed A/C
    • SuperSprint style long tube Headers
    • Maganflow Cat
    • Borla Muffler
    • 2-1/2" single stainless exhaust
    • I/O Port camera mount

Interior is gutted (minus headliner and front door panels) but I still have it all.

Does have a dent in the hood and a dent in the tailight panel. Some front floorboard rust issues were taken care of last winter, but the drivers front may still need some attention to prevent further issues.

I also have tons of spare parts, from parting e30's in the past. Not all would go with, but I would definitly give you a good deal on anything.

I honestly would like to see $5.5k with bottlecaps and all seasons, or $7K with the weaves/V710's and rotas/all 12 Z214's (that's probably $2.5k worth of wheels/tires). I understand if this is not the typical going price, but in order for me to consider selling it at this point in time, that's what it would take.

Thanks. No replacement. Next season isn't looking good due to financial setbacks. And Hankook backing out of the sponsorship for 2009 doesn't help the situation.

I can't say what it is worth, but sweet car :D

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

If you part it out I will take the cage and the rotas. :)

          Good luck with the sale.

Thanks. I definitely won't be parting it though.

Will consider trades for a very well maintained 325ix, at which point my 97 Explorer would also be for sale.

Thanks, not trying to add a car to the fleet though. I'd only consider trading my car for one, or buying one after I sell this car, and only if I can unload my truck. I'm not even sure if the car will be sold yet, and if not, I need the truck for towing it to the track. Yes, I'm being difficult. I don't need to sell this, so I only will under ideal conditions.

Plus that's an auto. That's not going to work for me.

3 way swap/sales are always a pita. i'd keep the truck because in a few yrs you'll be looking for a tow vehicle again :) price is decent for the track car, wait till track season hits in a few months and you'll have takers i bet. your car is an easy conversion for spece30.

If the truck is the 97 explorer then towing a car might not be the best of choices, it'll go fine, but the wheelbase would scare me, then again I like my 1 tons ;) nice and stable.

not so worried about the wheelbase as the overhang, and also the tow rating. for example an X5 with lightweight open trailer is perfect for something like an e30. not sure about a 97 exploder though :)

Explorers didn't do much for stability anyway, or anything from Jeep, drove my aunts 99 grand Cherokee for a 3 hours last week, and was happy to get back in my truck when I was done.

The Explorer is good for towing. It's an XLT ( AWD V8 ), they are rated for 6400 lbs. I have a nice hitch on it already. Just needs an add-a-leaf kit and bigger swaybars to be a great tow vehicle, but it would do fine as is. I have PF pads on it and just did all the fluids not long ago. An open deck trailer with a 2400lb car on it would be easy.

Yeah, the problem is I'll want to go back to the track then! I really do like the Explorer. It's the most reliable vehicle I own, very comfy, and plenty of power. If it got 25mpg instead of 15, I'd never consider selling it. But for a winter daily driver, on a 80 mile daily commute, it gets expensive.
