    Evolutionary Thread Jacking!

I couldn't stand to fuck up that thread any more:

Everything outside of the world of mathematics and logic is theory. You accept gravity as real, yes? Well guess what, it is a theory too, and the fact that this is your only argument against evolution strips you of any credibility you may have had.

EDIT: In these threads it becomes very clear who here is educated properly.

Funny thing about SCIENCE is there is a LARGE movement TOWARDS the belief of a CREATOR. Now don't get me wrong here ... science has NOT proven that there IS a creator but just that it seems there is intelligent design to the universe. Has anyone EVER looked at just how the earth is set up? Move the earths axis a few degrees and what happens? What about changing gravity just a hair? How about we do away with dust? Find some answers ... it is pretty interesting to say the least.

OP- Stay strong man! Finding the truth is a hard task. Convincing other about that truth is even more difficult (see all the off topic posts here LOL). Keep digging, keep searching, and keep your head up!

Evolution is as close to fact as any other scientific theory. There is overwhelming evidence in support of evolution. Pope John Paul himself even endorsed evolution AND the Big Bang as science fact. Fuck man, get out of this thread.

There is no right or wrong on this subject imo. One creator or one cell. Who the fuck cares. We're all here now and we as humans are doing a fucking shitty job with what we have imo. This is as seperated as this country has ever been and it's only going to get worse.

    Cliff notes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._coli...ion_experiment

I expect you people saying that evolutionary theory has been largely disproven to state your evidence. I think much of the confusion about evolutionary theory comes from people pointing out that it doesn't explain the origins of life. Evolutionary theory is not intended to explain HOW life began, only how organisms change over time. If you are looking for that check out Abiogenesis. Intelligent Design can never be science for one simple fact. It's untestable and unobservable. Every argument for ID unravels into "it's too complex so god did it". That's not science. Heck, they still don't even mention the mechanism, HOW does the "intelligent designer" cause change in organisms?

I'm not really sure that the scientific method is actually taught anymore in a lot of schools, and if it is, there sure are a lot of people not paying a whole heck of a lot of attention. Also, statistically insignificant odds of something happening are not proof that something is impossible, particularly when you have an essentially infinite sample size... (not that this has to do with evolution...). Ah well, as long as someone makes a claim, someone else will believe it.

It is true that evolution doesn't explain the origins of life, HOWEVER, it still directly contradicts the bible. Evolution holds that humans evolved into their current state from apes whereas the bible clearly states that man was created in the image of God and woman was created from Adam's rib.

If you are a fundamentalist Christian and interpret the bible literally, this may create problems for you. If you are a more liberal Christian and do not interpret the bible in 100% literal fashion, there is no reason that you can't accept evolution as science fact and continue on with your spiritual beliefs.

lol, science has proven darwins theroy is not possible now? I love "Christian Science"

Seriously, I have little respect for people who think we just magically appeared on this planet, then call me "ignorant" for not accepting a fairytale conclusion.

Very funny thread. I am so happy not to live in a fairy tale world of Gods and princesses. When you kids are sick, do you go to church or the doctor? Yup. Science is your friend.

No wonder religious people fear science like the plague. Science has all the explanations that contradict point after point all the religious themes. Whoever preaches that the world was created in 6 days (the 7th was spent jerking off, right?), or that the aliens made us with a magic wand, must either smoke some pretty good sensimilla or be a crazy religious troll. Even doubting that everything changes day after day, and mutates, and that after a few hundreds of millenums, things can be totally different must be pretty ignorant. I like those so-called scientific proofs that everything stands still and don't change. Bring them on.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

I live in TX and I was taught the scientific method. However, you must understand that the scientific method doesn't benefit religion. Their version is to come to a conclusion first and then search for facts to back it up.

Also, there are 3 levels of highschool classes here; Honors, Advanced, and Academic. Academic is basically teaching you how to pass standardized tests so the school makes money. It also doesn't help that when someone is failing academic bio or chem the put them in a class that earns applicable credits like food science or agriculture so that they will pass. Public schools have become a joke and are crippling our country's future. The integrity of a HS diploma has diminished to the point that a college degree is the benchmark for mediocrity.

That is infuriating, but unfortunately true. My college is next to another one that's basically 90% potheads and philosophy majors... completely unfit to be scholars of anything.
