    M42 Water Pump Removal Pics

So I finally got my water pump out of my M42 and thought i would post up some pictures for referencing, as to what the water pump looks like when smash it to bits.

As you can see it is in three parts. The way I removed the pump was by smashing the pully mound as you can see in picture 2, it is very dented. Then it will come loose, once loose i poped it out with a crow bar, I also placed some thin chip board infront of the radiator because the pump dose pop out and the last thing you want is it to hit the radiator.

Then you are left with the impellor and the housing still inside the block but it was loose in there. So with small screw driver i could rotate it around which allowed it to come out easily.

Hope this is a helpful referance as i could not find any.

    Cheers

A lot of people forget to drain the coolant system before trying to remove it. Working against a vacuum is a PITA.

that sucks it was such a pain for you. I helped a buddy change his in a costco parking lot with a toolkit he bought there, took about an hour (no manual, no M42 experience). wasn't fun but I don't remember having to smash or break anything. Wish I remember what I did that made it so "easy".
