    Bavarian Engine Exchange

From my post @ e30tech concerning Bavarian Engine Exchange.
I can add one more negative rep to this company. I just wish I would have seen this thread before I started dealing with them.

    Here's my story:

On feb 20 I ordered a used engine, I finally got it nearly three weeks later on march 10. While I was waiting I had to call to get my order number because it wasn't emailed to me after I ordered, and again to get the shipment info. I didn't get a response to any of my emails, I ALWAYS had to call and talk to someone before anything happened.
Their salesperson had told me to expect even compression on all cylinders when I bought it so I ran a leak-down test. All cylinders were fine except number 4. I was getting roughly 86% blow-by at the exhaust port (wtf?!) So being pretty upset I sent my salesperson an email on the 11th and called the same day, I couldn't get my salesperson but the CSR said to expect a reply to my email before the end of the day. Well that didn't happen, I didn't hear from my salesperson again until I called on the 16th!
Long story short I was told my cylinder head would be fixed. It was supposed to be picked up with shipping paid this past Wednesday the 24, that didn't happen either. I didn't bother sending an email and just called, this time a bit more irate. Now they say it'll get picked up on Monday the 29th but I have no reason to believe that will actually happen or that they'll actually fix their mistake.

At this point I just feel like I've been getting strung along by these guys. It has been over a month since I placed my order and I still don't have anything I can use. I've been keeping a log of my interactions with Bavarian and even talked to my credit card issuer to see what steps I need to take to get a charge-back if they don't ultimately make good on their assurances.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can do to get this situation fixed?

NOTE:I know there is a thread on Bavarian Auto Recycling but I wasn't sure if they are in fact the same company so I created a new thread, please feel free to merge this with the other thread if that's the case.

being a member, i would like to see more "individual" posts with companies,
so at a glance, i could tally up a simple score or number.

also, maybe a pre-icon with a good/ bad symbol. so i can differentiate the thread.

but, this company, from what i have been reading, should be avoided. until all complaints are handled or resolved and the authors report a "happy ending".

Or you could ask the question: Has any one EVER had a good experience with Bavarian Auto Recycling?

        *UPDATE*

Today I called the UPS distro center near me to see if they had a pickup notice for my package. Surprise, they didn't! I called the UPS freight office too but they had no record either. So I called Bavarian again and asked about it, the sales guy said he would get back to me and hung up. I called back an hour later and dialed my sales guy's extension, he wasn't there so I left a message. An hour after that I called again, got my salesperson and a tracking number. I called UPS and they said they'd pick it up tomorrow (wtf it was supposed to be picked up today!), it seems like Bavarian didn't actually request the pickup until today

No shit. The main reason I went with Bavarian was so I wouldn't have to spend any time refreshing the motor. I wasn't expecting anything phenomenal, just good compression which the salesperson assured me my motor would have. I was understandably pissed when I ran the leak-down test since I don't think a cylinder that gets 80+ percent blow-by could possibly pass a compression test.
Considering how much time I've lost on this deal I could have pulled and completely rebuilt the motor that's in the car now. The thing that gets me the most is the fact that I spent extra money on an engine to reduce my project time and got saddled with a major burden instead.

Did you purchase a rebuilt motor?

No, I got a used one. I think the price on rebuilt motors is a bit excessive.

                  *UPDATE*

Since my last post on the matter, the cyl head was picked up (3/30/2010). I called Bavarian (4/09/2010) and the sales guy said to expect it back tues-thurs of next week. Today (4/15/2010, Thursday) the UPS guy came and delivered some unrelated parts but no cyl head. I called Bavarian and was told to expect it back early-mid next week. This shit is infuriating.

I'm thinking I might just box up the rest of this engine and ship it back for a refund but I have no reason to expect they'd actually honor any of their policy and I'd be out a few hundred for shipping. Any suggestions?

                        *UPDATE*

So as you can see from the date on the last post it's been a while but I have good news at least. Since my last post I took a few weeks vacation, started a new job, and worked for a couple months. Yet, still no cylinder head, so I spent a few days researching California's consumer protection laws and sent BAR an email threatening legal action. Long story short I didn't have to follow up and sue them, I kept the bottom, and got a full refund.
