    1997 M3 coupe 5sp Techno Violet/ Magma/ well maintained- PRICED TO SELL

    3/29/10: NEW PRICE, FIRM- $7600

3/14/10- Color combo is a "BMW Individual" option!

Up for sale is my 1997 M3 coupe, 5 speed- fantastic mechanical condition and a super rare color combo. I picked this car up about a month ago, and have put on almost 2500 miles since. I purchased it on a whim, knowing that it had extensive service history- and flew to NYC and drove it back. I purchased it based on pictures taken at night- but now that it has been in my possession, I know I can afford something with a slightly cleaner body (I'm a perfectionist)- so I'd like to pass this extremely solid driving M3 to someone on here.

It has been extensively serviced at dealerships for most of its life, and I have a 1" folder to prove it. There is probably over $8k in things that have been replaced within the last few thousand miles... pretty much everything these cars need has been addressed. The car literally needs NOTHING done mechanically. Drive it as is for another 50k without issue.

    Basics:

    -119,XXX miles
    -5 speed
    -Magma Vaders (heated, manual)
    -A/C (recently serviced)
    -dual climate control
    -power sunroof
    -power windors/locks
    -tinted windows
    -stock Harmon Kardon HU
    -ASC
    -Split folding rear seat
    -Fog Lights
    -2 Keys included
-All panel VIN #s original, except hood
    -M-Tech spoiler NOT INCLUDED

Work completed (2nd PO, babied the car):

    -A/C condensor & recharge (101k)
    -Clutch (88k)
    -O2 sensor (88k)
    -Parking brake readjusted (90k)
-thermostat, alternator belt, A/C Belt (12/2006)
-Brake pads front and rear, sensor (12/2006)
-API water pump (metall impeller), API fan, API fan clutch, radiator, hoses (12/08)
    -Power steering pump (12/08)
    -API rack and pinion (12/08)
    -Steering shaft (12/08)
    -cdv delete
    -air box debaffled
-drop in performance k and n air filter
-Front Tires- dunlop direzza 225/45/r17 (75%)
-Rear Tires toyo proxes 245/40/r17 (75%)
    -short throw shifter
    -uuc performance transmission mounts
-uuc underdrive pulleys (still have the daily driver ones that dont affect alternator)
    -Ravelco Anti-Theft Device (11/02)

The following was done by the 3rd PO (all around 114k):

    -New shocks all around
    -New wheel bearings
    -Front ball joints
    -driveshaft rubber dampener
-Bosch performance spark plugs (+4 platinum fusion (platinum/iridium plugs))
    -Royal Purple max gear 75w90
-Royal Purple synchromax fluid done to transmission
    -Royal Purple power steering fluid
-Brake fluid flush and clutch fluid flush
    -New Battery

    Interior:

Heated manual Vaders in Magma leather. I've searched around, but could not find a single other car with this combo. I'd give the interior a 7.5/10. No tears, noticable stains, or funky odors. Bolsters are all still solid, the drivers' understandably has lost some color. Split folding rear seats, no arm rest. The OBC works, but the temperature is wrong because the temp sensor wasn't hooked up when the front bumper was repainted by PO. The cluster is dim all the way on the bottom where the mileage is, but otherwise all lights fully working.

    Mechanical:

The car was driven back 900 miles in a single day from NYC to CHI, absolutely no leaks, odors, squeaks, rattles experienced. Oil consumption was non existent when I checked from the drive back. I put on close to another 1000 miles in addition to that dailying it to school and back the last few weeks, and the car is a rock. Does not pull to any side, is extremely planted, clutch engages properly and the shifter is very precise (no play). As I mentioned earlier, I'd trust this car for another 50k without worry- and I wouldn't have to think twice about a cross country trip.

    Body:

This is pretty much the only reason I'm selling the car, as I'm a perfectionist when it comes to bodies (last 2 cars were show cars) It has no dents, but some dings. The left side of the car is probably 9/10, but the right side has a indented spot underneath the passenger door handle. The hood has a 6" scrape under the roundel that goes to the primer, and some dings. The passenger side of the front bumper is a bit saggy (1cm), can't say I know why. And finally- there is currently a black bumper on the car. The 2nd PO had the original bumper repainted for chips (hence meticulously taken care of)... but got fed up and just threw a black one on the 2nd time around. I personally did not notice this when I bought the car- not until I called the PO from the service record #s, did I figure this out since Techno violet is so dark already.

    Price:

$7600 ABSOLUTELY FIRM. Tire kickers, please go elsewhere. A plane ticket is $100-150 from just about anywhere, so fly in to Chicago, and drive it back home anywhere with full confidence. This is as cheap as it gets for a very well maintained M3.

Here's $7200 of (major) receipts. I didn't even picture any of the stuff that was under $400.
