189k miles, Manual Transmission
Bought this car aprox. 2 summers ago, with a blown automatic transmission. Hunted down all of the parts to convert it to a manual transmission. Replaced or rebuilt everything. Local transmission guy went through the transmission and transfer case. installed all new seals, new shift linkage, new lines, new clutch, lightened flywheel, etc.
Replaced the suspension with new Koni Yellow Adjustable, and H&R lowering springs, went through the brakes, wheel cylinders, bearings, etc at that time.
Rebuilt the hood latch, replaced the cable, installed new hood insulation, replaced timing belt, water pump, plugs, cap/rotor, adjusted the valves.
New tires, rebuilt both front axles, including correct grease, replaced all leaky seals, etc.
Mechanically, I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car anywhere.
However, it does have a few problem areas that need to be addressed. The Driver's side doorlock sticks sometimes, but the trunk and passenger side always work. The sunroof crank is broken, although it still works.
The lightweight flywheel, combined with the 4:10 gears (automatic cars had 4:10s, manual cars usually got the 3:73s) makes it pretty zippy, especially around town. However, the lightweight flywheel means that the clutch tends to bleed down over time. (translation, you don't want to constantly hold the clutch down while you're stopped in traffic, it needs to come out gear.
Interior:
The seats are a little worn, but not too bad, carpet is good, Cd player is nothing fancy, but it works just fine. Heater core is new, as well as t-stat, so it blows plenty of hot air. AC is all there, but could use a recharge. Power windows, locks, etc all work just fine.
Body: Car is rust free, and mostly ding free (it's a got a few parking lot dings here and there, but nothing serious. Paint is good, although it could use a fresh wax.
I'd like to get $4500 for it. I'll throw in a rear plate filler. I drove it to Seattle, and then down to California and back last summer without any problems, The awd system is working great as well.
